An excellent trip for those wanting a gentle float down the river. Our 3 hour North Thompson tours are perfect for families with younger children or people who don’t quite feel up to the whitewater but would like the experience of a rafting trip. This trip also offers an excellent opportunity to learn more about the river and local history from our well informed guides. The North Thompson has been a very important river throughout history as a source of food, income and avenue of transport. Note:  Please arrive at our office in Clearwater at least 20 minutes before your departure time and report to our reservation desk. You will need to wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather. You may bring a small bag with a camera, binoculars, water bottle, snacks and a jacket. Please wear shoes that won't fall off your feet, and you don't mind if they get a bit wet. You will stay dry on this trip, unless it is raining. We raft rain or shine. Rafters on the Clearwater River must weigh a minimum of 90 lbs (41 kgs.) and be a minimum of 12 years of age. (This restriction may drop to a minimum of 60lbs (27.5 kgs) and 9 years old during lower water levels in late July & onwards).

Catch A Wave

Family friendly rafting designed for ages 7 and up! Our newest trip is a wonderful way to enjoy an introduction to whitewater with lots of fun waves and splashes in a section of the lower canyon of the Clearwater River that excludes the more challenging areas of the whitewater. During this trip we will explore an island and include some games and a snack. This trip generally begins mid-July. IWE reserves the right to cancel or postpone this excursion if the water levels are too high for younger rafters. Minimum age: 7

Note:  IWE has sound emergency procedures in place and practice them regularly. All trips have good communication with our base camp and shuttle bus in the form of two-way radios, cell phones, or satellite phones. In Wells Gray Park we have extra first aid equipment such as basket stretchers, backboards, blankets etc. stashed in strategic areas along the Clearwater River in the event of an incident.

This all takes place in the wilderness of the amazingly beautiful Wells Gray Provincial Park. You will experience two full days of heart pounding thrills on one of the last big-volume, free-flowing rivers in the Pacific Northwest. This is one trip where you can expect to be amazed, awed and inspired. Ticket to Ride includes 2 days of unparallelled BC whitewater rafting through legendary Sabretooth Canyon, one of the largest commercially run rapids in British Columbia. And the big water action doesn’t stop there. 

Following your first day of whitewater fervour you can relax along a riverside campsite and enjoy the unmatched scenery while our IWE guides prepare a delicious gourmet dinner and special coffees.
